We Can Help with Prior Year Tax Returns PDF Print E-mail
Written by Claire A. Murray

Malden Tax Partnership is able to help with past year tax returns.  We sometimes need a bit of lead time to download the correct year forms, regulations, and tax tables so we apply the correct details to your tax return.  Call us at 866-833-2823 (toll free), and tell us what year tax returns you need to file.

We'll pull together one or two of our volunteer tax preparers to assist.  Most appointments are available on Saturday, with a limited number of appointments available on a Wednesday or Thursday evening.

IRS Open House, June 5th: Face-to-Face Tax Help PDF Print E-mail

The IRS is hosting its 2nd Open House for Taxpayers on Saturday, June 5, 2010 in Boston, MA.

Location: JFK Federal Building, 15 New Sudbury St., Boston, MA  02203, (617) 316-2850

Times: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM

If you have not filed your 2009 taxes, owe money and want to set up a payment plan, or have other tax issues that you want to discuss with an IRS representative, here is your chance to do it without taking a day off from your day job.

Another Open House will be scheduled for the fall.

From the IRS website:

"IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers are your source for personal tax help when you believe your tax issue cannot be handled online or by phone, and you want face-to-face assistance.

If you need to resolve a tax problem, have questions about how the tax law applies to your individual tax return, or you're more comfortable talking with someone face-to-face, visit your local Taxpayer Assistance Center where you can spread out your records and talk with an IRS representative across the counter. No appointment is necessary - just walk in. If you prefer, you may call a local number to learn about available and alternate services, and to reschedule appointments with IRS personnel.  If you have an ongoing, complex tax account problem or a special need, such as a disability, an appointment may be requested.  All other issues will be handled without an appointment."

We Are Open All Year PDF Print E-mail

While the extended May 11th deadline is past, please know that we can still prepare and e-file your 2009 tax return through October 15, 2010.  Even after October 15, we can prepare your 2009 taxes but you must mail them in.

We also will assist you with preparing past year returns, but these must be paper filed.  We will give you a complete copy for your records, a federal copy to mail to the IRS, and a state copy to mail to the Mass DOR.

Our available tax preparation times are limited, so call us at 866-833-2823 (toll free) and wait for a return call.  It may be 2 or 3 days before we can call back, but we will call to schedule an appointment as quickly as we can.

If you owe money, file your taxes quickly, as you get an additional penalty for filing late or not filing at all.  Then you can ask the IRS or DOR to set up a payment plan for the money you owe them.

Filing Deadline for 2009 Taxes Extended to May 11th

Massachusetts taxpayers in Bristol, Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk, and Worcester counties have until May 11, 2010, to file their 2009 Tax Return. After President Obama declared these counties a disaster area, qualifying them for federal relief funding, the IRS extended the deadline to file their 2009 Return. This affects taxpayers who reside in or have a business in these counties.

Tax Appointments Now Being Scheduled

We are calling people back to schedule their appointments.  If you want an appointment to have your taxes prepared, please call 1-866-833-2823 toll free.  Tell us your name, telephone #, reason for calling (we use that number for several programs), and the best time to reach you.

A trained volunteer will call back to prescreen you and schedule your tax appointment!  It may be several days before you get a return call.  Please be patient.  But if more than 10 business days go by without a return call, give us another call to make sure we got your first call.  We have enough volunteers and time to get to everybody who calls.

Our schedule includes some daytime hours (we'll make a second call if you need a daytime appointment), Wed & Thrs evenings, and Saturdays.
